Flume new album4/23/2024 ![]() Thankfully, Flume fans are dedicated and we’ll likely have a recording on his subreddit or elsewhere by the time we wake up to start our days. Unfortunately, the stream is going to happen in Australian Eastern Daylight Time, meaning it’s going to be 5am ET and 2am PT for us here in the US. Hear snippets of unreleased tracks featuring AlunaGeorge, Raekwon, Vic Mensa, and more. The album has 15 songs and is 49 minutes long. Sunday also just so happens to be just short of the actual 10th anniversary of Flume, released November 9, 2012. This includes sharing links to hosts of leaks, giving hints as to where to find them, discussion about leaks (like song titles, artworks, release dates and tracklists that came from the leak) and requests for leaks. By then, Flume’s 2012 self-titled debut album, which saw him dish out dreamy hip-hop and R&B beats like a new age, down under J Dilla, was already a resounding success. Flume has dropped off a new music video for his latest track Say Nothing featuring MAY-A, which arrives as the lead single from the Australian electronic artist’s forthcoming third album. Now, the Australian producer has dug up an old laptop from around the time he was producing his debut album, Flume, in 2012 and plans to share many works in progress (WIPs) and unreleased songs from the era. At the same time, Streten embarked on his own headlining tours and played festival dates at events like SXSW and Coachella. Whilst some tracks are arguably a bit forgettable, this album is still full of some brilliant moments.It was only a few months ago that Flume hopped into his Discord for an Ask Me Anything and ended up dropping a couple of long sought-after IDs that fans thought had been lost to the times. The second half of the album is definitely the stronger half, and the disappointing opening album track is definitely made up for with later album tracks like “Go” and “Get U”. Palaces is, overall, a decent album and one that would translate brilliantly to the live space. But then these great moments are broken by tracks like “I Can’t Tell,” which feels dull and unexciting, especially compared to subsequent heavy bass track “Get U.” Tracks “DHLC”, “Go” and “Love Light” are excellent the addictive drops and catchy beats are immediately intriguing and infectious. However, some of the standout moments of the album are when Flume is solo. It’s an effect that feels much more natural and complimentary to the sharp electric sound throughout. In contrast, subsequent tracks “Sirens” and “Hollow” demonstrate a brilliant contrast to the electronic edge of the drops and the smooth vibrato of the vocals. Opening track “Highest Building” starts off promisingly, but is ultimately let down by the unnatural mash of auto-tuned vocals. ![]() This is most notable on title track “Palaces," featuring Damon Albarn, which provides a soft and calming melody to accompany the birds. The album even features bird song recordings which are subtly woven throughout the album and provide an excellent ode to which Flume’s homeland. Those who have been long-standing fans may consider this album an amalgamation of Flumes career so far. Palaces is an album centred around Flume’s return to his home of Australia and the iconic natural landscape and biodiversity. The Aussie wunderkid of electronica returns with a new sound world for fans to get lost in. Its the Australian artists second surprise release of 2023, coming off the back of Februarys Things Dont Always Go The Way You Plan.Much like that record, Arrived Anxious, Left Bored features music recorded by Flume across his career to date. It’s full of incredibly sharp hooks and punchy beats, broken with some softer moments in between. Flume has released a new surprise album, Arrived Anxious, Left Bored. ![]() These perhaps surprising features contributed to the unique form of this album, which is definitely much stronger in the second half. His first full length album since 2019’s Hi This Is Flume, Palaces has a number of surprising features from big names such as Caroline Polachek and Damon Albarn. ![]()
